"?Arsenal are confident that Jamie Vardy will be a Gunners player by the time Euro 2016 kicks off at the end of this week, but they could yet complete a second raid on Leicester City and snatch Riyad Mahrez away from the new Premier League champions as well.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are now in talks with Mahrez, who in April became the first African player to be presented with the prestigious PFA Players' Player of the Year award.
It is suggested that having triggered Vardy's £20m release clause last week, the Gunners have done the same for Mahrez. It is even said they were surprised by just how low the value of said clause was.
As such, if talks go well, the former Le Havre winger, bought for just £400,000 by Leicester in January 2014 as they surged towards the Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League, could quickly follow Vardy out of the King Power Stadium.
Arsenal have been one of a number clubs linked with Mahrez for a number of months. His incredible rise is believed to have caught the attention of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea at various times, while even Real Madrid and Barcelona have been credited with interest.
Speaking in May, Mahrez's agent, Kamel Bengougam, commented that his client is as likely to leave Leicester as he is to stay this summer.
"Of course there is a possibility (of leaving)," he said.
"When you have been playing the way Riyad has this season it is bound to attract attention. He is very happy with Leicester and of course it has been a fantastic season. They will play in the Champions League next year as well so he would be happy to stay. But at his age if the opportunity comes to play for a big team then we would have to think about it.
"I'd say it's 50/50 at the moment whether he stays or goes."
