"?Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are reported to be fighting each other for the signing of Ricardo Rodriquez.
The 23-year-old Wolfsburg defender has been on the radar of United for a while, but according to German paper "?Kicker, the Gunners have been made aware of a €25m (£19m) release clause in the Swiss international's contract.
Since joining from FC Zurich in 2012, the left-back has consistently impressed with his all-round performances - he has scored 20 goals and assisted 25 goals for the club in 157 games, which is helped by him being first-choice penalty taker.
Any move for the defender would be likely to raise questions over the future of Kieran Gibbs at Arsenal. The academy graduate has struggled for game time in recent seasons, and has seen his place in the side taken by Spaniard Nacho Monreal.
United, on the other hand, have struggled to fill in the left-back position for Luke Shaw, who broke his leg against PSV Eindhoven in September. Marcos Rojo and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson have both tried, but neither have looked as comfortable as Shaw did before his horrific injury.
New manager Jose Mourinho may want to sign Rodriquez to offer cover and competition for the 20-year-old next season, as he prepares to have a full pre-season of fitness building.
