Arsenal and Chelsea on Alert as Henrikh Mkhitaryan Rejects New Contract at Borussia Dortmund

Published on: 30 May 2016

Borussia Dortmund's attacking midfielder "?Henrikh Mkhitaryan has rejected a new contract offer, leaving the player with just one year left on his remaining deal.

The 27-year-old enjoyed the most prolific campaign of his career in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions.

It has been Dortmund's aim to pin the Armenia international down to a new contract, however, "?"?German publication Bild"? report that Mkhitaryan has no intention of signing a new deal.

Bild also report that Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in signing the skillful midfielder, but it's unlikely that Dortmund are prepared to sell considering the club have already sold Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich and ?lkay Gündo?an could also be set to move on.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be a free-agent next summer, meaning that both Chelsea and Arsenal may have to wait until the end of next season before they are able to bring the 27-year-old to the Premier League.

However, considering Mkhitaryan is represented by world-renowned 'super-agent' Mino Raiola, there is still a possibility a deal could be struck this summer.

The player was called up to international duty for Armenia earlier this week, where he continued to showcase his ability, assisting three and scoring three in a thumping 7-1 victory over Guatemala. His second goal was an absolutely stunning effort as he cut in from the left-side before scoring from an almost impossible angle.
