Anthony Martial Wants New £100k-a-Week Deal After Stellar Debut Season at Manchester United

"?Anthony Martial could be set to rock Manchester United chiefs by asking for a new contract worth £100,000 a week.

The striker signed from AS Monaco last summer for an initial fee of £36m, which is likely to rise due to several performance-related clauses, and immediately hit the ground running with 17 goals in his first season at Old Trafford.

The French international signed a reported £68,000-a-week initial deal until 2019, but according to "?The Sun, the 20-year-old wants improved terms to reflect the impact his arrival has had.

Wayne Rooney is currently the Red Devils' top earner on around £300,000-a-week, with German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger close behind.

Although The Sun says Martial's demands are extremely unlikely to be that high, the forward still wants a raise that could take him to six figures a week.

Martial was included in France's squad for the European Championships on home turf following his impressive season, where most of his goals came from the left-hand side of midfield to accommodate Rooney and teenage sensation Marcus Rashford up top.

Incoming manager Jose Mourinho is likely to make wholesale changes to the United squad and Martial is looking forward to working with the former Chelsea boss when he returns from Euro 2016.

According to the Manchester Evening News, he said "We know that Mourinho is a great coach, one of the best in the world."

He also sanctioned United's move for free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic, saying: "If Zlatan was to come, it would be really good. He's a great striker, he will bring us experience."

Martial is expected to make a major impact for France at Euro 2016, despite failing to score for his country in eight appearances so far.
