Andriy Schevchenko: AC Milan Should Go for Andriy Yarmolenko

Published on: 31 May 2016

"?Andriy Schevchenko wants his former club AC Milan to sign countryman Andriy Yarmolenko, per "?Espnfc.

The former striker, who also played for Chelsea and Dynamo Kiev, rates the winger highly and noted his versatility in attack, also stating that he would point the Serie A club in the players direction if he could.

"In Ukraine we have Yarmolenko, whom I like a lot," Schevchenko said In a phone interview with Milan Channel

"He plays wide on the right but he can also play on the left and he will become a good player. I would point Milan to him."

Yarmolenko currently plays for Kiev and scored 16 goals in 32 appearances for the Ukrainian outfit during the season, helping them clinch the league title.

Milan, on the other hand, ended their campaign in disappointment, settling for a seventh-place finish with just 57 points, while Juventus won the league with 91.

An injection of offense is certainly needed at the club, and while the 39-year-old ex-striker believes that Yarmolenko would fit in well, he also thinks that Milan should give Carlos Bacca another chance, as the Colombian " had a good season and he scored a lot of goals."

Bacca signed from Sevilla last summer and scored 20 goals in 42 appearances (all comps) for the club. His attitude, however, gave cause for concern.

Shevchenko said: "It is difficult to make a judgement on a player coming off a tough season for the team but he started well, and then there was a change in coach."

Milan sacked manager Sinisa Mihajlovic during the season and replaced him with Cristian Brocchi. They only won two out of their last seven matches under Brocchi.
