All-Conquering Juventus Set Incredible New Serie A Record With Win Over Bologna

Published on: 09 January 2017

Fans of Italian football have grown quite accustomed to seeing Juventus at the pinnacle of the Serie A table. However, Massimiliano Allegri's side's latest achievement is impressive even by their own illustrious standards.

With a 3-0 win over Bologna on Sunday at Juventus Stadium, The Old Lady entered history by setting a new Serie A record for home victories - an incredible 26 wins in a row.

Juve have won every league game in front of their own fans last year, and have not even drawn at home in Serie A since a 1-1 draw with Frosinone back in September 2015.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that the previous home winning streak was also set by Juventus, three seasons ago.

Juventus' dominance of Italian football has been near-total in recent years. As well as winning the last five Scudetti, the Turin giants also possess the records for the most goals in the competition overall, the most wins in a season and they also went the entire 2013/14 season with a 100% home record.

Sunday's win marked a return to form after the winter break, and two goals from Gonzalo Higuain and a Paulo Dybala penalty secured the points against 15th-placed Bologna.
