Alan Pardew Keen for Reunion as Crystal Palace Target Newcastle Goalkeeper Tim Krul

"?Crystal Palace are targeting Newcastle United shot-stopper Tim Krul to sort out their problem position of goalkeeper.

The Dutch international has been sidelined since October with an anterior cruciate knee injury, but is likely to be one of many Magpies players to leave St James' Park following relegation to the Championship.

And the "?Croydon Advertiser believes Alan Pardew is eager to bring Krul to Selhurst Park where he worked with the 28-year-old during his four-year spell at Newcastle.

Despite making over 180 appearances for Newcastle, Krul is down to the last year of his contract and is unlikely to extend his stay under new manager Rafael Benitez and would jump at the chance to move back to the Premier League.

Pardew would certainly offer him that chance and the likelihood of being the Eagles' new number one, with questions raised over the club's current crop of goalkeepers.

Mainstay Julian Speroni is no longer considered first choice, with neither Alex McCarthy nor Wayne Hennessey showing enough consistency to make themselves long-term options for the role.

The Croydon Advertiser believes Hennessey could move on after Euro 2016 action with Wales, with Everton and West Bromwich Albion monitoring the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man, while McCarthy is being watched by a whole host of Championship clubs.

The club are likely to keep McCarthy as a deputy to Krul though, who should return to preseason training fully fit after his seven-month absence.

Krul was a part of the Championship-winning Newcastle side that went up under Chris Hughton in 2010, but won't fancy another campaign in the second division with potential Premier League offers on the table.

If Krul does depart St James' Park, Benitez is likely to keep faith in Rob Elliot as Newcastle's new number one, with Karl Darlow staying on as back-up to the former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper.
