Aitor Karanka Admits Rudy Gestede Signing Might Pave Way for Jordan Rhodes' Exit

"?Aitor Karanka has conceded that Jordan Rhodes and other players may leave Middlesbrough during the January transfer window after the club splashed out £6m to bring in Rudy Gestede, reported "?Sky Sports.

Rhodes made only six appearances for Boro this season and has largely failed to establish himself at the Riverside Stadium following his £9m switch from Blackburn Rovers.

The arrival of Gestede has prompted speculation that the Scotland striker may headed for pastures new and Karanka refused to quash rumours of a possible departure.

"Yes, if the right offers arrive and the players want to leave. I have said always that I am here to help everybody who wants to leave always when we receive the right offer because it is the market and to buy players, we need to sell.

"If one player wants to leave and the right offer arrives, I will help them."

Karanka hopes that Gestede will add firepower to Boro's ranks, as the Teesiders have only managed 17 goals in 20 Premier League games this season meaning they are joint-lowest scorers alongside bottom-placed Hull City.

"I think he's a really good player for us. He gives us something different, he gives us things that we can't (do) at the moment and I am really pleased because he was here the first day that he could be here.

"I am really pleased because with him, we are adding a good player and a good person."

Karanka also confirmed that he is currently pursuing other attacking targets: "I think we need to improve the attacking position, and I hope we can bring in someone on the wings."
