"?Henrikh Mkhitaryan has suddenly emerged as a major target for Manchester United in the last week and now super-agent Mino Raiola has reiterated his client's desire to join the club as he looks to arrange an exit from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford.
Raiola, who also famously represents Zlatan Ibrahimovic among others, had previously confirmed Mkhitaryan's interest in signing with United after it became clear that he would not be extending his contract to remain with Dortmund beyond 2017.
In his latest comments on the developing saga, Raiola told The Times, "[Mkhitaryan] wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation."
It comes after the Italian-born Dutch agent had earlier criticised Dortmund for apparently changing their minds about letting his client leave this summer - if the Bundesliga club refuse to sell now they will lose the player for free next summer unless he performs a contract U-turn.
"Those in charge at BVB promised Micki months ago that he can leave the club in the summer," Raiola said a little earlier this week.
"Dortmund have an official offer, but the BVB bosses now fear their fans. All of a sudden they say that he has to leave on a free next summer. That's very bad management. Manchester United is a unique opportunity, Micki wants to go there."
Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied any such agreement that the club promised to sell Mkhitaryan, suggesting they may in fact be prepared to play hard ball and risk the Armenian becoming a free agent next year.
"We now know he won't sign an extension. There was never a promise that he can leave us prematurely," he said.
