AFCON 2025: Team Coordinator Dismisses Rift Claims After Super Eagles’ 4–0 Win Over Mozambique

Published on: 07 January 2026

Super Eagles team coordinator Dayo Enebi Achor has dismissed insinuations and dark innuendoes suggesting unrest within the squad following Monday night’s emphatic 4–0 victory over the Mambas of Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Eric Chelle’s side dominated proceedings from start to finish, with Victor Osimhen scoring twice, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams also found the net. Attention after the game shifted to a brief on-field moment involving Osimhen and Lookman before a corner kick, which sparked speculation across traditional and digital media. However, Achor was quick to play down the talk, insisting there is harmony within the camp.

“There is no problem whatsoever in our camp. Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good, and we are presently at training,” Achor told thenff.com.

The team coordinator also refuted reports claiming that striker Akor Adams abandoned the team camp after the match. According to Achor, the forward had only stepped out briefly with permission.

“He took permission to go and see his mother, who was hospitalized here in Fès, and returned in less than an hour,” he added.

With the matter laid to rest, the Super Eagles remain fully focused on their quarter-final showdown as they continue their push for continental glory at AFCON 2025.
