AFC Cup 2017 - Group I: Kigwancha SC 7-0 Erchim SC

Published on: 31 May 2017

Pyongyang: Rim Kwang-hyok netted four times as DPR Korea’s Kigwancha SC signed off Group I in second place with a comprehensive 7-0 win over bottom club Erchim FC on Wednesday.

A fortnight ago Kigwancha’s compatriots 4.25 SC had already secured top spot and a place in the Inter Zone Play-off Semi-finals after their resounding 5-0 victory over Erchim, but nevertheless Kigwancha came out all guns blazing at Kim Il Sung Stadium.

Rim scored his first on the half-hour mark before doubling his and Kigwancha’s tally five minutes ahead of the break.

On the hour Kang Kuk-chol made it 3-0, with Han Thae-hyok and Kim Yong-il adding further goals on the 70th and 74th minutes.

And in the final 11 minutes there was still time for Rim to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot, before netting his fourth and the hosts’ seventh on 82 minutes.

Despite the large margin of victory, 4.25 SC’s superior head-to-head record over Kigwancha will see them take part in the Inter Zone Play-off Semi-finals, with the first-leg beginning at the end of August.
