AFC Bournemouth Midfielder Harry Arter Signs New 3-Year Deal

"?AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter has signed a new three-year deal to stay at the Vitality Stadium, according to the Cherries' official website.

Arter was brought to the south cost from Woking in 2010 and has made over 200 appearances so far for Eddie Howe's side, and made 21 appearances for the Cherries last season.

The 26-year-old also looked set to book a place with Martin O'Neill's Republic of Ireland squad for Euro 2016, but unfortunately missed out due to injury.

The news was broken by Bournemouth Chief Executive Neill Blake, who was delighted that the Irishman had committed his future to the club.

"We're delighted to secure Harry's long term future at the club,"? said Blake.

"Harry has been on every step of the journey and he has been an important figure in our rise through the leagues.

"He has made over 200 appearances for the club and has also become an international footballer, so we're really pleased to give Harry this new deal."

Arter follows team-mates Adam Federici, Adam Smith and Steve Cook in signing new deals at the Vitality.

The midfielder was almost certain to be involved in the Ireland squad for the European Championships in France, after an impressive first season in the Premier League.

However, a thigh injury he picked up in a training session at the country's pre-tournament training camp in Cork, meant that those dreams were over.

Arter will now be looking ahead to the new season, with hopes of building on his side's impressive showing in their first top-flight campaign. The Cherries were widely expected to return to the Championship at the first attempt, but ended up finishing in a respectable 16th place.
