The former Derby County and Millwall loanee also bagged two league goals in the process - his long range strike in the 3-3 draw against Everton going on to be a contender in Bournemouth's Goal of the Season Award.
And Smith took to his official Twitter account to express his own delight at putting pen-to-paper on the contract extension.

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club's official website that the new contract is a just reward for the full-back's performances throughout the previous campaign.
"It's great to be able to reward Adam with this new deal,"?Blake said.
"He has shown this year just how important he can be for us, and we believe there is still plenty more to come from him.
"I am sure he will continue to be a crucial part of our side as we begin to prepare for our second season in the Premier League."?
