AC Milan are said to be interested in signing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic on loan, per the "?Liverpool Echo.
The Serbian has failed to establish himself under Jurgen Klopp since returning from Fenerbahce, where he spent last season on loan, and the club are said to be keen on offloading him before the transfer window closes.
He featured in Klopp's teams during preseason, but hasn't been played in any of the Reds' matches so far this season. And with the club completely out of Europe this time around, they believe that Markovic would be better off playing somewhere else.
Milan face competition from Sporting Lisbon and Schalke 04, however, with the Portuguese and German "?outfits linked as well.
Liverpool transfer news: Reds prepare £11m move for Christian Pulisic while Lazar Markovic is told he can leave -"? https://t.co/cYZiCNMCwy
Since joining Liverpool from Benfica in a £20m move two years ago, the Serbian has managed just three goals in 34 appearances.
Former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers must shoulder some of the blame, having played Markovic out of position several times. Rodgers often fielded the player as a right wing-back, and despite his defensive industry, things just did not work out.
The player's loan at Fenerbahce was hampered by hamstring injuries, and he has never really gotten a chance to play as he would like to. It does seem a bit unfair, as Markovic is still considered a talented attacker, but for now, Klopp doesn't fancy giving him a chance.
The German boss is intent on keeping a small squad this season, and has warned that he will not be rotating players.
This certainly spells the end for the Serbian. However, a positive loan spell could see him back in the side next season.
