AC Milan Reportedly Eyeing Potential Move for Leicester City Superstar Riyad Mahrez

AC Milan are reportedly interested in securing the signature of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to Italian publication Calciomercato (via Sportsmole).

It is understood Milan sporting director Massimilano Mirabelli had flown to England to scout the 25-year-old Algeria international and subsequently approached Leicester to gauge the Foxes' selling price.

The Premier League champions, however, are determined to keep hold of their prized asset and reports suggest they will not entertain any offers from the Serie A giants.

Milan's interest in the winger, which comes after reports suggesting the San Siro club are interested in signing Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas, is expected to receive similar reluctance to that of Arsenal.

Mahrez had been the subject of intense transfer speculation for much of the summer after his stunning exploits in Leicester's title-winning campaign, with the Gunners expressing an interest in the Algerian.

But their efforts persuaded the Foxes to offer an improved new four-year deal for Mahrez who eventually signed.

Since the signing of his new deal, the 25-year-old has struggled to replicate his form from last season, scoring just one goal in eleven Premier League matches.

His Champions League performances, however, have been an improvement on his domestic form, with his three goals in the competition guiding the Foxes to the brink of last 16 qualification.

Manager Claudio Ranieri admitted last month that he had been 'angry' with his side's contrasting form in Europe and at home.

"When you play in the Champions League you are switched on, very, very smart and focused on every situation. You use up a lot of mental energy in the Champions League.

"We want to change this though because the Premier League is our priority."
