"?AC Milan are the latest club to join the chase for highly-rated Pescara Striker Gianluca Lapadula as they attempt to boost their attacking options and climb back up the Serie A table next season.
"?Gazzettaworld reports that the Italian giants are also close to making a deal with Chinese investors that would bring the club a much needed financial injection, allowing them to compete with other Serie A teams for the services of prolific talents like Lapadula.
Lapadula scored 30 goals in 46 appearances for Pescara this season in Serie B, helping the side to the title and automatic promotion and returning them to the Italian top flight for the first time in three seasons.
But multiple transfer reports for their star striker makes survival seem like a task-and-a-half already. Lapadula has already attracted the attention of other Italian top-tier clubs such as Napoli, Genoa and Suassuolo. Leicester City are also keen on the 26-year-old.
It's clear why AC Milan are on the lookout for such an efficient and clinical forward. Even though there's a difference between Serie A and Serie B back lines, it remains impressive that Pescara's Lapadula scored more goals last season than the AC Milan trio of M'Baye Niang, Luiz Adriano and Carlos Bacca, who managed 27 goals between them.
Considering that Adriano and Bacca cost a total of £38m, it makes the prospect of signing the Pescara striker a potential bargain if he can replicate his scoring feats.
This was the main reason AC Milan finished 7th, outside the European football spots. They only scored 49 goals in total last season, and looking for a strong attacking player like Lapadula is exactly what the Rosseneri need to be doing in preparation for next season.
