2016/17 Champions League Group Stage Pots Have Been Revealed and Leicester Are Seeded

Published on: 29 May 2016

"?Following Real Madrid's triumph on Saturday evening, the pots for the upcoming Champions League campaign have been revealed, "?ESPN report.

The format has been dramatically revamped, which means Los Blancos will now take up their place in pot one alongside the league winners from Europe's top seven divisions.

This means that, despite their pedigree and history in the competition, teams like Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are no longer guaranteed top billing.

However, this is good news for Leicester City because it means they are nestled in pot one and consequently command a better chance of getting a favourable draw.

The Foxes will be joined in pot one by Real, Barcelona, Benfica, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow and Juventus.

Arsenal will have to settle for a berth in pot two, whilst Tottenham, who recently announced they will be playing their matches in the competition at Wembley, are likely to sneak into pot three.

If Pep Guardiola can lead Manchester City to victory in their qualifying match then they should pinch a place in pot two whilst, depending on results, pot four could still contain the likes of AS Roma, Monaco, Fenerbahce and PSV Eindhoven.

The 2016/17 Champions League is already shaping up to be a corker and the final will be held at the Millennium Stadium in Wales.
