Imo State Sport Commission Director tasks Heartland to win preseason tournament

Imo State Sports Commission Director of Sports (DOS), Ferdinand Emeana has charged Heartland Queens FC to win the top prize at the 2nd edition of Besty Obaseki Women Football Tournament.

Emeana made the charge on Wednesday at the sports city, Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri while seeing off the team to Benin City on behalf of the Commissioner for Youth & Sports Development, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu.

Emeana tasked the team to go to Benin City to win the BOWFT assuring that the amiable state number one citizen and sports loving governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma will duly reward and accord the team a heroic welcome reception.

"I charge you to go to Benin City with confidence to bring the tournament top prize to the state and be rest assured that our amiable and sports loving governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma and workaholic sports commissioner, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu will duly appreciate you upon return from the tournament.

"You made the state proud at the last NWFL Championship in Ijebu Ode winning the ticket for the NWFL Premiership and creditably at 2022 Aiteo Cup, we believe you have the capacity to repeat the performance in Benin City.

"We charge you to be good ambassadors of the state off and on the pitch throughout your stay in Benin City.

"The entire state is solidly behind you and wishes you the best of performance," said the former handball player and board member of Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN).

Heartland Queens FC are among the 12 teams that will be partaking in the Grade A preseason tournament, Besty Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in Benin City, Edo State.

Other equally matched teams are Nigerian and WAFU B' zone champions, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Osun Babes, Confluence Queens, Naija Ratels, Royal Queens, Fortress International FC, Brave Hearts and home side, Edo Queens.
