Security operatives, yesterday evening failed in their attempt to arrest chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) Shehu Dikko at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on the Super Eagles arrival from the World Cup qualifier in Zambia.

The team touched down in Abuja by 11.32pm and four plain clothes operatives armed with handcuffs swooped on Dikko almost immediately.

Top officials including sports minister Solomon Dalung and President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick intervened, and at a point in the drama one of the operatives shot into the air when the arguments heated up.
