Ghana striker David Accam played his first game for Chicago Fire in their 2-1 defeat at SJ Earthquakes on Sunday.

The 24-year-old replaced Joevin Jones a minute into the second half but then the damage had already been done.

Fatai Alashe and Ty Harden scored in the 5th and 21st minute respectively to hand the hosts a commanding 2-0 lead which was halved eight minutes later through Harrison Shipp.

Accam was finally handed his belated debut at the restart to inject some purposeful pace to Fire’s attack but it wasn’t to be as the visitors slumped to their third straight defeat of the MLS season.
