Ghana goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey, has spoken for the first time on his decision to pursue his career in the major league soccer instead of main stream Europe.

The Norwegian born Ghanaian goalkeeper is said to have refused offers from Middleborough and Blackburn to sign for MLS side Portland Timber.

The Ghana international was also linked to Scottish giants Celtics before opting for Portland Timbers.

Kwarasey’s decision to go to the MLS is seen as backwards within the Ghanaian populace given the standards in America.

But the 26 year old insist he wanted a move away from his comfort zone.

“I felt that I had accomplished everything that I could in Norway," Kwarasey said

"I just wanted a change. I wanted to get out there and experience a new country and a new culture and a new league."

Kwarasey captained his former club Stromsgodset to a Norwegian league triumph in 2013.
