Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman is edging closer to a move to English side Chelsea after agreeing personal terms with the Premier League champions, his agent has revealed.

The 21-year-old is now awaiting Chelsea to reach an agreement with his German club Augsburg before he is given the permission to travel to London this week for a medical with the Blues.

Augsburg have rejected Chelsea's opening offer of £17.5m for a player they signed just just ONE MILLION last summer from Greuther Furth.

The German side are angling for £25m agreement with Chelsea before allowing the Ghanaian to undergo tests ahead of his switch.

The right-back is desperate for the move to England and has already reached an agreement over his personal terms leaving the agreement with his club as the only sticking point before the deal is sealed.

"The clubs need to find an agreement. On our part all is right , "said Baba's agent Sascha Empacher told the Sport Bild.

But the Ghanaian youngster is desperate for a move to the world's most popular league and seeking the softly-softly approach for the move to happen.

Augsburg have yet to accept the offer, knowing Real Madrid and PSG are also keen on the player and they can exact a maximum price for the defender.

Talk of a switch to Stamford Bridge intensified over the weekend after the left-back was missing from the Augsburg squad for the friendly against Toulouse on Saturday.

Rahman will arrive in London to replace Filipe Luis who was sold back to Atletico Madrid this week after failing to settle.

Chelsea have made their move for the 11-cap Ghana international after flogging Brazilian flop Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old Ghana international, following recommendation by former manager Avram Gant, now coach of the country.

Grant, who coaches Ghana, mentioned his qualities to Chelsea following his part played in reaching the final of the African Cup of Nations last year, where they lost out on penalties to Ivory Coast.

The Israeli retains close connections to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy and rates Rahman as one of his best players.
