GFA Technical Director Oti Akenteng admits to Black Stars' goalkeeping crisis
Razak Braimah has not overly impressed

Ghana FA Technical Director Francis Oti Akenteng admits there is a goalkeeping crisis within the Black Stars.

Akenteng is just reflecting the sentiments of many Ghanaians who are of the firm belief that the nation is yet to really replace Richard Kingson.

The 36-year-old has not been involved with the Black Stars since his last call up in 2013 for Ghana’s World Cup qualifying playoff against Egypt.

Subsequent goalkeepers called in as replacements have however failed to overly impress in their auditioning to become the substantive first choice.

Fatau Dauda came close to becoming the undisputed no.1 after his sterling performance at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

His subsequent bench warming duties following a move to Orlando Pirates badly affected his form which almost cost him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Adam Kwarsey and in recent times Razak Braimah have also failed to overly impress.

GFA Technical Director Oti Akenteng admits there is a problem in Ghana’s goalkeeping department.

“What I know is that for the goalkeeping department, we seem to be having a problem,” he told Asempa FM.

New coach Avram Grant is being urged to give opportunities of rising Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi and Robert Dabuo who has been very consistent with AshantiGold this term.

Afcon Penalty kicks and this big macho average goal Keeper was standing in the post shaking like a 3 month old baby with a fever needing breast milk. No show of confidence.

Why are all goal keepers losing their confidence. Brimah was not like that. I think there is some truth in what Kwarasey said. GFA should learn to listen to grievances of players instead of punishing them when they speak up.
