Former Nigerian winger, Garba Lawal says he’s impressed with the performance of the Super Falcons in their 2-0 victory over Botswana at the ongoing 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The champions took the lead eventually when Halimatu Ayine’s incisive through ball found Ifeoma Onumonu who clipped the ball over the oncoming Maitumelo Bosija.

Substitute Christy Ucheibe headered home with her first touch of the match to extend Nigeria’s lead in the second half and earned the team their first three points at the tournament.

Reacting to the team’s victory, Lawal in a chat with Completesports.com stated that he was satisfied with the general play of the Super Falcons against Botswana.

He noted that the players came out with the determination to win.

“I am really delighted with the general play of the team and I know this is just the beginning. Yes, they lost to South Africa in the opening game, however, it will only be a blessing in disguise for the players.

“For me, this is a sweet victory for the Super Falcons and it will spur them on to defeat Burundi and also other teams that comes their way at the tournament.”
