Forget Mesut Ozil, Arsenal Youngster Is the New Assist King of the 2016-17 Premier League Season

Published on: 20 September 2016

"?Believe it or not, but the 2016/17 Premier League campaign is already five-weeks-old.

Despite the season still being relatively young, however, fans of each club are already debating with one another about who have been the stand out performers for their respective sides.

While the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Michail Antonio, Diego Costa and Idrissa Gueye have rightfully grabbed the headlines, there is one player who has been more consistent than any of them.

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi.

Alright, the young winger hasn't set the league alight - but he has the best ratio of assists-per-minutes played so far this term.

Indeed, the 20-year-old's three assists in 151 minutes of game time means that he has laid on a goal for a team-mate once every 50.3 minutes.

That ratio is better than Iwobi's closest competitors, Manchester City pair De Bruyne (one assist every 144 minutes) and Kelechi Iheanacho (once every 53 minutes), as well as West Ham's Dimitri Payet (once every 67 minutes).

Not bad for someone who, up until October 2015, hadn't made a single first-team appearance for Arsenal.
