FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: Senegal, Egypt to fly African flag as Nigeria misses out

The competition's runners-up, Egypt, will compete against reigning CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 15 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the only African duo in the tournament with Nigeria missing out, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.

The 13th FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup officially takes place from February 15 to the 25th. Senegal, the four-time African champions, and Egypt will represent Africa in the 16-nation competition.

The two countries earned their spots in the international showcase by winning the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in Mozambique in 2022.

Egypt will begin their campaign against the hosts on Thursday afternoon, then go on to play Italy and the USA in the following days. Egypt was placed into Group A, which also includes the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, and Italy.

Senegal, the African rivals, are placed in an intriguing Group C, beginning their campaign on Friday, February 16 against Belarus and continuing with matches against Colombia and Japan.

Africa has yet to place on the podium in the competition; Senegal came very close to doing so in the most recent edition (2021) in Russia, where they lost to Switzerland by a score of just 9 to 7.

The current FIFA Beach Soccer champions are the Russian Federal Union (RFA).
