Falconets beat Burundi to qualify for 11th U-20 Women's World Cup

Nigeria U-20 Women National team, falconets have progressed to the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup after beating Young Hirondelles of Burundi 2-0 on aggregate on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigerian team defeated Burundi 1-0 in the second leg of the World Cup Qualifiers at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja after a 1-0 win in the first leg.

Esther Ajakaye's second half goal ensured a 2-0 aggregate win and securing one of the four tickets available to teams in CAF region.

Chaimaka Okwuchukwu had come close twice to scoring in the first and second half, but her attempts could not break the deadlock.

She was substituted in the 77th minute for Mary Lucky Mkpa and 2 minutes later Mkpa provided the assist for Ajakaye to score the goal which ended as the only goal of the game.

The Falconets have now qualified for their 11th U-20 Women's World Cup after their first participation in 2002.
