FA Cup Roundup: Crystal Palace and Burnley Advance to Fourth Round While Sunderland Crash Out

Published on: 17 January 2017

FA Cup scores were settled on Tuesday night, as the competition brought 12 teams back to replay third-round encounters, giving us some well-deserved midweek action.

With several clubs vying to walk away England's oldest trophy, there's still plenty of action to be had. But for now, we bring you a quick roundup of the night's events.

"?AFC Wimbledon 1-3 Sutton United: Wimbledon striker Tom Elliott opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but his goal was cancelled out by Roarie Deacon's 75th minute strike from outside of the box. Deacon then set up Maxime Biamou with a goal in the 90th minute, and Dan Fitchett put the cherry on top with a right-footed strike from distance to send 10-man Wimbledon crashing out.

Barnsley 1-2 Blackpool (AET): Blackpool struck first through a goal from Kelvin Mellor in the first half. Angus MacDonald even things up for the hosts just four minutes into the second half. The sides could not be separated at the end of regulation time. But Bright Samuel popped up with a goal in stoppage time of extra time to give Blackpool the advantage and save them from a penalty shootout.

Burnley 1-0 Sunderland: Goals from Sam Vokes and Andre Gray sent Burnley to the next round, with the Black Cats continuing their struggles under David Moyes this season.

Fleetwood Town 0-1 Bristol City: Jamie Paterson's 17th minute strike was enough to to the business for Bristol City against Fleetwood Town.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Bolton Wanderers: Bolton hit first through James Henry early in the second half, but Christian Benteke scored a brace to keep his team in the tournament.

Lincoln City 1-0 Ipswich Town: This one seemed to be heading for extra time after 90 minutes with no goals. However, Nathan Arnold scored a dramatic late one in stoppage time to see Lincoln through to the fourth round.
