Scottish Premiership side Hearts FC has announced the signing of Nigerian striker Uche Ikpeazu.

The 23-year-old marksman attracted interest from Hearts with his good scoring form in the English League Two for Cambridge United.

The Jam Tarts have since signed Ikpeazu on a pre-contract with his current deal with Cambridge set to expire at the end of the current season.

Ikpeazu has hit the back of the net 13 times in 38 league games this season.

Hearts released the following statement:

“The towering hitman has committed to signing a two-year deal at Tynecastle after the Jambos beat off stiff competition from sides north and south of the border.”

“London-born Uche, who stands at 6ft 4’ tall, joined Reading’s academy system in 2010 and in his first full season scored 28 goals in 28 games.”

“That was enough for Watford to pay an undisclosed fee for his services in 2013 and he spent three years at Vicarage Road, enjoying loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Port Vale and Blackpool.

“In 2016 he made the move to League Two side Cambridge United, where he has scored 22 goals to date. The 23-year-old has 14 strikes to his name this season and four assists.”

“Uche will link up with his new teammates upon expiration of his contract with Cambridge United on July 1st,” a statement read.
