Former Ghana President John Rawlings has praised Stephen Appiah for remaining humble despite his money and fame.

The former Juventus star paid a courtesy call on the former Head of State on Wednesday afternoon to officially hand him an invitation to his testimonial match.

The event organized by Primeval Media scheduled to take place on June 27 is to afford the former Black Stars captain bid his official farewell after announcing his retirement from the sport.

Former President Rawlings in receiving his invitation to the testimonial match praised the 34-year-old for remaining modest despite his fame and fortune.

“I feel indeed humbled privileged and honoured for your visit here today,” ex President Rawlings said.

“You are one of the people that have enjoyed fame and fortune but you still have maintained your humility.”

Several top football stars are expected in Ghana for Appiah’s testimonial which will be preceded by a dinner on the eve of the match.
