Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awonyi returned to action for Nottingham Forest to score in their 1-2 loss against league giants, Arsenal in the English Premier League match day 22 fixture on Tuesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigerian striker who had been injured for over 6 weeks returned, playing from the bench to score, but it was enough as the strugglers saw defeated at the City Ground.

Gabriel Jesus had opened score for the Gunners in the 65th minute after a barren first half.

Bukayo Saka doubled the lead in the 72nd minute to ensure the visitors have a comfortable lead

However, Awoniyi who came in at the start of the second half for Wood outmuscled William Saliba after a Montiel's header to slot home cooly with his left foot on 89 minutes.

The goal was a little too late to change the result as Arsenal won to move second and two points adrift Liverpool who play Chelsea on Wednesday.

The loss for the Reds means they are now two points away from the drop zone as they stay 16th with 20 points.
