Players and officials of Nigeria will be paid their bonuses and allowances just hours to their U23 AFCON final against Algeria on Saturday in Dakar, it has been disclosed.

Officials disclosed that sports ministry personnel, who will pay them will only arrive early morning on Saturday and ensure the team are paid before they step out on the Leopold Sedar senghor Stadium in Dakar by 8pm same day.

“The sports ministry officials are due in by midnight and thereafter they will pay the team,” an official specially disclosed.

The players are due $2,000-a-man win bonus and a daily allowance of $100 beginning from their training camp in The Gambia.

The Dream Team VI reached the championship game without being paid a dime.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has admitted the federation are facing financial hard times.

"These are tough times in Nigeria and this is also affecting the federation as we are tied to the apron strings of the government,”Pinnick said.
