Desiree Ellis: Why we arrive so early to Abuja

Banyana Banyana head coach, Desiree Ellis has reveal that the decision to travel early to Nigeria for the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

South African senior women’s team landed in Abuja, Nigeria, on Sunday afternoon ahead of the crucial tie.

Accordingly to the federation’s website, “Desiree Ellis explained that the decision to travel early to Nigeria was intended to help the team acclimatize to the weather conditions in Abuja as they are different from the conditions at home.”

The team had their first official training session on Monday afternoon and will continue with preparations until Thursday.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will lock horns with South Africa at the Moshood Abiola Stadium before the return leg at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria five day later.
