CONTE: “WE PICKED UP THE PACE AFTER THE BREAK"

Inter resumed their European journey with a win as they return from their away clash against Ludogorets with a 2-0 first-leg win in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, the goals on the night courtesy of Eriksen and a Lukaku penalty.

Antonio Conte spoke in his post-match press conference: “The tempo was very low in the first half and we had to adapt to the situation a bit, but we raised the intensity after the break, creating plenty of chances to score. We’re also trying out other options to our game in order to have alternatives and the ability to change things up. The two up top will stay the same though.”

A word on Christian Eriksen’s first goal in Nerazzurri colours, after the Danish midfielder played the full ninety minutes: “I’m happy for him, goals always bring confidence. Christian just needs to keep working to get back to full fitness, to rediscover the brilliance of his best days at Tottenham. He can do even more than what he showed us tonight, but we’re very happy because we know what he can bring us. In any case, I’m focused on what’s best for Inter, so I’ll look to put him in in the right way and at the right time.”

On the line-up decisions, the Nerazzurri coach explained: “We’ll rotate things a bit in the Europa League, giving a chance to those who haven’t played as much but deserve to get more minutes. We need to try and go as far as possible, continuing on this path because we know that the Europa League can cause difficulties from both a physical and mental point of view.”

Finally, a word on Handanovic’s recovery: “We don’t know if he’ll be back for Sunday, we’ll judge it day by day, but we have faith in Daniele [Padelli, ed.], so Samir will only take back his place once he’s fully recovered.”
