Coach Oliseh set to hand Iheanacho Super Eagles debut

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has admitted that he could give Kelechi Iheanacho a starting shirt against Swaziland in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday if the player proves his worth in training.

The 19-year-old was a late inclusion to the Nigeria squad for the game against Tanzania, following the criticism that followed the initial squad list which didn’t include his name.

“If he is in better form he will start the game. That’s as far as I’m concerned,” Oliseh said.

“We still have to train on Wednesday and Thursday before we travel so if he proves to be in better form than the other players in his position, he will start the game, I can tell you that.”

Iheanacho has been in fine form for the former English champions, scoring one goal in the Premier League and another in the Capital One Cup, creating two assists in the latter.
