American Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire have confirmed in a statement attacker David Accam will travel to Accra for Ghana's 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.

Accam, who scored a brilliant finish for Fire in their dramatic 3-2 home reverse against Orlando City, is expected to arrive in Accra on Sunday night to join Avram Grant's squad for the game.

Chicago Fire coach Frank Yallop had claimed in an interview last week the club had not received any official invitation from the Ghana Football Association to travel for the game.

But in a statement on Fire's website, they have confirmed the 24-year-old will travel for the game in Accra.

"The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Saturday that midfielder David Accam (Ghana) and defender Joevin Jones (Trinidad and Tobago) have been called up to represent their respective national teams," the statement read.

"Accam and Jones will depart following the Fire’s home match against Orlando City SC presented by Heineken at Toyota Park on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m," it further stated.

The player confirmed to GHANAsoccernet.com on Saturday he will be travelling to Accra for the game.
