Chelsea have become the latest club to declare interest in signing Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali.

The defending champions of the English Premier League are understood to have written to the agents of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015-winning captain expressing interest in signing the midfield starlet.

“We have so many expressions of interest to sign Kelechi Nwakali coming from different clubs in Europe and the latest is the one coming from Chelsea,” an official of ASJ Football Academy, who have sporting and economic right of the Nigeria U-17 captain, told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We have several others aside from the one from Chelsea.”

Nwakali’s sporting rights are jointly owned by ASJ Academy Owerri and Diamond Academy, Umuahia.

Reports suggest that Manchester City are back in the race to sign Nwakali.

Nwakali was to join City after the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup triumph in United Arab Emirates but that did not materialise.

“Now, they are back in, wanting to sign him,” the source added.
