Olympique Marseille's Ghanaian midfielder André Ayew decided to pursue his career at Roma in the Italian Serie A, L'Equipe has exclusively revealed on Saturday morning.

The 25-year-old chose the 'Giallorossi' over several other European sides including Wolfsburg, Dortmund and Schalke in the German Bundesliga, Swansea City in the English Premier League and Roma's rivals Inter Milan.

However, the second-born son of Ghana and Marseille legend Abedi Pelé will only put pen to paper with the club coached by Frenchman Rudi Garcia if they book their spot in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.

A fans' favourite at the South of France giants whom he joined in 2005, Ayew won the French league cup in 2011 and 2012, missing out on OM's Ligue 1 title in the 2009-2010 season while on loan at Arles-Avignon.

On the international stage, the attacking midfielder participated in the 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2015 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations as well as the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup's finals with the Black Stars.
