Under-fire Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Nassam Yakubu has hit back at his critics, insisting he has enough quality to find a lasting solution to the country’s goalkeeping crisis, claiming local fans have treated him unfairly.

Yabuku, who doubles as the goalkeepers’ trainer for Ghana Premier League side Medeama, has come under mounting criticism for his perceived lack of quality.

His problems were exacerbated when Portland Timbers goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey passed a damning verdict about his quality after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, claiming he’s outmoded and lacks the requisite technique to propel the team to greater heights.

The damning verdict handed critics the ammunition to take him to cleaners, raising doubts about his efficiency and capabilities to steer his role.

But Nassam Yakubu has parried such criticisms insisting Ghanaian local fans have treated him unfairly.

“It is a very wide and big issue and I don’t think this is the right platform to say this but anyone who want to judge me should not hide somewhere and talk,” he told Takoradi-based Aseda FM

“Come and see the work I am doing and judge me from there. You cannot judge a book by the colour, unless you read it.

“They (fans) should come and see what I do both in my club and at the national level. Not just sitting at home and say the goalkeepers’ trainer is not doing well. Come and see the work I’m doing before you judge me.

“I think they have are been unfair to me. A lot of people I don’t even know, they just sit somewhere ad criticize which is not fair.”

Yabuku has been accused of doing little to find Richard Kingson’s replacement after Razak Brimah, Fatau Dauda and Stephen Adams failed to step into the plate.

Kwarasey, a former captain of Norwegian side Strømsgodset, is hugely seen as the man who has shown tremendous quality to cement the position  but critics have accused him of lacking the confidence in the Ghanaian post.

He has temporarily called time on his international future following his public tirade at the current goalkeepers’ trainer.
