Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl is relieved defender Baba Abdul Rahman didn’t sustain serious injuries in his involvement in a motor accident while on holidays in Ghana.

The 21-year-old’s face has been scarred with stitches after crashing his vehicle into another last week.

Augsburg ordered their defender back to Germany upon being notified of the accident.

The Ghana international has returned to training earlier this week after receiving treatment.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl concedes he was mightily relieved to see his left-back back with no serious injuries sustained.

“That [the accident] could have ended really bad,” Weinzierl noted.

“We are happy to have him back.”

Baba Rahman has been heavily linked to a move away from Augsburg this summer.
