Antonio Conte Set to Adopt Italy's 3-3-4 Formation at Chelsea in 2016/17

"?New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly set to make huge changes to the team's tactics ahead of next season when he begins work in July, potentially adopting an attacking formation that will favour two strikers and two wingers.

Despite a numerous different managers, Chelsea have rarely strayed away from 4-3-3 or the similar 4-2-3-1 since Jose Mourinho first arrived from Porto in 2004. Both systems rely on one central striker, but according to The Times, Conte's focus will be different.

The 46-year-old is expected to bring the 3-3-4 formation he has been using with the Italian national team - a system that worked to brilliant effect against Belgium recently - with a variant of 4-4-2 another scheme he would play if deemed necessary.

That is likely to mean that the focus of the transfer market for the remainder of the summer is on strikers so that Conte can have more than one on the pitch at all times.

It could be a totally new look forward line by the time the transfer window closes. Radamel Falcao an Alexandre Pato will not be returning after their disappointing loans last season, while Loic Remy is likely to be sold.

Even Diego Costa could be on his way out despite a much better end to the campaign. The Spanish international, who was overlooked for Euro 2016, has been heavily linked with a return to Atletico Madrid and it makes a lot of sense for Conte to want a clean slate.

Chelsea have been linked with Juventus' Alvaro Morata in the last few days. A €50m deal could be possible if the 23-year-old is bought back by Real Madrid with the intention of an immediate sale, although they will encounter difficulties if they are left to deal solely with Juve.

Christian Benteke is another name that continues to surface, somewhat surprisingly, while this could finally be the chance that exciting 20-year-old Bertrand Traore has been waiting for to make a serious impact at Stamford Bridge.

The same might also be said for home-grown teenager Dominic Solanke.
