African Games '23: Flying Eagles keep next round qualification hope alive with win over South Sudan

Nigeria U-20 Men National team returned to winning ways following a slim win over South Sudan in their second group B match at the ongoing African Games in Ghana on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A goal by Sadiq Isiyaka in the second half was enough for the West African giants to beat the East Africans at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Flying Eagles who came into the game on the heels of a 2-1 loss to Uganda in the group B opener saw their efforts for a goal prove futile in the first 45 as the score stayed goalless at half time.

In the second half, after several missed chances, Nigeria earned a penalty which was converted by Isiyaka on 80 minute.

The goal proved the match winner as the team shifts attention to the last group game against Senegal on Friday.

The Nigeria team needs a draw or a win to qualify for the semi final against a Senegal side that lost 1-0 to Uganda.
