AFCON 2023: We can withstand the pressure of playing in front of the host fans - Kenneth Omeruo

Ahead of the crucial clash against Cote D'Ivoire in the second group A fixture, Super Eagles assistant captain, Kenneth Omeruo says he and his teammates can withstand the pressure that comes with playing against the host nation, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Kenneth Omeruo who spoke with Nigerian journalists in Cote D'Ivoire as the team prepare for the game on Thursday said he believes the team has what it takes to hold on their own against the Elephants.

Asked if the team can stand the pressure from the 12th man of the team, the fans, Omeruo said "Of course we can. We play in our clubs a lot of away games, it is a terrain we are used to. We just have to try to stick to our game plan and focus on trying to win."

The CD Leganes player also believes that the present crop of Eagles with the blend of experience and youth knows the task ahead of them and are prepared for the game.

"most of the players here are tested and trusted. I think we know what the task is and we are prepared for us to go into the game on Thursday", Omeruo stated.

The Super Eagles with a win in their mind face a uphill task against host nation, Cote D'Ivoire who won their first match against Guinea Bissau at the Alassane Quattara Stadium Abidjan on Thursday.
