Gabon coach Jorge Costa has praised team effort for a 2-0 opening day win over Burkina Faso at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Goals by skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Malick Evouna in either half saw Gabon go past the beaten finalists at the 2013 Nations Cup on Saturday in Bata.

“We worked hard and we had 11 panthers on the pitch,” said Costa in reference to ‘Azingo’, the nickname of the Gabon team.

“We already have three points, but it is not over yet.

“Burkina Faso are the strongest in our group, but today we had the luck and we also had (goalkeeper) Didier (Ovono), he was decisive for us.”

On Wednesday, group leaders Gabon will take on Congo in continuation of the AFCON.
