Nigerian forward Tunde Adeniji has apologized to his teammates  after he was sent off in his side’s Atyrau 2-0 loss to Almaty in a Kazakhstan Premier League game on Saturday.

“I expected him to have walked up to me and warned me but instead, he gave me a yellow card. He was right with the second  offence. I am disappointed because it is the first red card of my career.”

Atyrau will next face Ordabasy in the KPL and Adeniji who was a member of Nigeria’s home-based team to the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda will not be eligible to feature in the game following his dismissal but he expects his side to secure maximum points in the game.

“We played two difficult matches on the road, but now our next game is at home where we will enjoy the support of our fans,” he stated.

“I believe with the support of our fans we will beat Ordabasy. I failed my team as it was not easy to play with 10 men against 11 players but I have ask for forgiveness from them.”

Adeniji, who featured in Atyrau’s opening two games of the campaign, is yet to open his goals account since linking up with the club.

Atyrau have lost their opening two games of the campaign and sit in 11th position in the 12 team KPL table.
