2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Rohr confident Benin Republic can repeat victory over Super Eagles

Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr is optimistic that his team, the Squirrels, can defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria again, following their recent 2-1 victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The two teams have been drawn in the same group for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and Rohr, who previously managed the Super Eagles for six years, believes his current team has what it takes to record another win against the three-time African champions.

While acknowledging the difficulty of the group, which also includes Rwanda and Libya, Rohr expressed confidence in his team's abilities.

“It's a difficult draw, but we gained confidence from our previous win and we know we can beat them," he said on the Benin Football Federation's official website.

Rohr added, "Another reunion with Nigeria, that's three more games with them. It's a reunion against a very good team, but we have the potential to repeat our success."
