Turkey-based Majeed Waris has replaced injured Kwesi Appiah in Ghana's squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius in Accra.

Appiah suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear and withdrawn from the squad preparing in Accra.

Head coach Avram Grant has said the Crystal Palace will be out for several weeks.

Waris has been drafted after the Trabzonspor striker regained full fitness after missing the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

“Fortunately, around that time, the coach also said that because our strikers had not arrived – David Accam and Albert Adomah, Majeed Waris was also in town so he was asked to join the squad,” Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.

Waris had a difficult season after managing only 18 league appearances for Trabzonspor.
