19-Year-Old Chelsea Loanee Tammy Abraham Strikes Twice Taking His Tally to 17 for the Season

Chelsea and England prospect, Tammy Abraham, netted a brace for Bristol City on Monday night to take his tally to 17 for the season from only 25 appearances.

He is the Championship's third top scorer, despite Bristol City's league position of 18th.

With 74 goals in 98 games for Chelsea's youth teams in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons he is a frontrunner to join the first team next season.

According to the youngster, he is in regular contact with his parent club, saying in an interview with Sky Sports earlier this season: "We keep in contact and the [Chelsea] coaches get back to us and inform us of little things. They make you feel involved even though you're away.

"It's little things like that which obviously is a good thing for me and it gives me confidence knowing people [at Chelsea] are aware of me."?

Abraham won PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for August and September earlier this season and will have set his sights set on January's award after Monday's double.

Antonio Conte has given competitive playing time to youth since taking over Chelsea.

Midfielders Nathaniel Chalobah (10 appearances) and Loftus-Cheek (3 appearances) have often been selected over Chelsea's wealth of bona fide midfield talent including Fabregas, Mikel and recently sold, Oscar.

After hearing praise from Antonio Conte in the run up to Christmas Abraham said, "?It was good (to hear), obviously it's a massive thing to happen and it's important to have that support behind you, knowing that people are taking recognition of your game and how you're playing,' he told Squawka.

"?It was really motivating for me hearing such praise and it gives me the confidence to go out there and perform on the pitch."

With a staggering 34 Chelsea players on loan this season, he will have to maintain his form for the rest of the season if he stands any chance of seeing first team action with Chelsea next term.
