Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United in the ongoing winter transfer window, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Besiktas midfielder could return to English football just six months after leaving Leicester City, as the Red Devils look to bolster their midfield with experience and defensive steel.
According to talkSPORT, United are exploring Ndidi’s potential arrival under head coach Michael Carrick, who wants reinforcements in the centre of the park to strengthen the club’s push for Champions League qualification. Ndidi, 29, made 220 Premier League appearances for Leicester and has recently impressed on the international stage, helping Nigeria reach the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Manchester United is also considering alternatives, including AC Milan and England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is similarly 29 and open to a Premier League return in search of regular playing time. The club reportedly prefers a loan deal until the end of the season to maintain flexibility ahead of summer transfer planning.
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs revealed that United had been in talks to sign a midfielder on loan with Premier League experience currently playing abroad, a description that fits both Ndidi and Loftus-Cheek.
