"Wilfred is a key player and person in the squad"- Van Nistelrooy quenches Ndidi's exit talks
Leicester City head coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy has shut down Wilfred Ndidi's potential exit rumors amidst interest from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The former Manchester United interim manager admitted that the Super Eagles midfielder who has begun his rehabilitation process after few weeks on the sidelines is a key player for the Foxes and that his return will help lift the team who are currently battling top-flight survival.
Following Leicester City's return to the Premier League, Wilfred Ndidi signed a new three-year contract with an option for an additional year, in reference to the renewal which states his importance, Van Nistelrooy has no intention of allowing the Nigerian midfielder to depart.
"No, of course not," he replied when asked if Ndidi, who is close to a return from a hamstring injury as well as a potential departure.
"Wilfred is a key player and person in the squad and in the club and I'm glad he is nearly there to help the team again.
"We know how much we've missed him and we know we need him. Wilf is key in the coming months, a key part of this team that can get us out of this situation."
The Foxes would be hoping to keep their spot in the Premier League but they do have a daunting task at hand.
